The Fire Mitigation/Trail/Common Area Committee is focused on oversight of the Saddlewood Common Areas and the Walking Trail.
Phase I of the Saddlewood Fire Mitigation Project was mostly completed by Team Rubicon and Saddlewood Volunteers in June of 2021. Team Rubicon (TR) is a Disaster Relief Non-Profit, that has agreed to help Saddlewood with some much needed Fire Mitigation. TR was on-site in June for 5 days with over 60 volunteers. The TASK was to reduce ladder fuels and thin trees in the common area behind the mail kiosk and along the Trail System. Many parts of the common area has never been mitigated before and was challenging. The Fire Mitigation included, Thinning, Limbing, Cutting and Chipping. TR had several teams that cut down trees, collected the tree branches and limbs and a chipping team to chip up the material. The large material and trunks were donated and hauled off.
Team Rubicon graciously donated their time, equipment and volunteers to help us! Saddlewood provided volunteer support, provided coffee, breakfast, and lunch for all 5 days. Saddlewood also rented a Chipper from United Rentals and 2 Portable Potties. Unfortunately, TR ran out-of-time before the Phase I Project was completed, so, Saddlewood HOA organized another Volunteer Clean-up Day in July, to chip and haul the remaining trees and branches left on the Trail. Thank you to all the Volunteers that donated their time and/or equipment to help with this effort!
Team Rubicon has agreed, if they are available, to help Saddlewood in Phase II of our Fire Mitigation Project in 2022!
