2027 Ballot: Proposed Bylaws and Board of Directors Election
To keep costs down, the Board will mail one ballot covering both the Proposed Bylaws and the 2027 Board of Directors election.
Voting schedule
- Saturday, November 7: Ballots mail
- Saturday, November 21: Voting closes
- Saturday, November 28: Ballots counted
Important: Sign your pre-addressed return envelope. Ballots returned in unsigned envelopes can’t be counted.
Proposed Bylaws
Members have shown strong interest in the Proposed Bylaws. Because we didn’t reach a quorum at the Annual Membership Meeting, the vote will be held by mail. A copy of the Proposed Bylaws will come with your ballot.
Board of Directors for 2027
Nominations closed on October 15, as announced. The candidates are:

- Mark Wessbecker
- Kevin Gale
- Ken Domer
- Dick Pursewell
- Steve Savickas
- Dave McMahan
- Travis Thomas
- Gary Barclay
- Lois Kriegh
Nine directors will be elected from these 11 candidates. For several years, only nine people have run for nine seats, so we’re glad to see more neighbors stepping up this year.
What to do
Watch your mail for your ballot after November 7. Mark it, sign the return envelope, and have it in the mail by November 21. The Election Committee will count the ballots on November 28 and post the results on this website.
Annual Membership Meeting
The Annual Membership meeting was held on Saturday September 26th and was well attended, we want to thank everyone who came out and also for your enthusiastic participation in the discussions. The meeting minutes are posted on the Documents page.
Proposed By-Laws — Open for Member Comment
UPDATE:
The proposed By-Laws have been reviewed by our attorney who proposed text changes for clarity and compliance with Colorado law. These changes were made and reviewed by members of the Board of Directors. A “final draft” has been posted in the Documents section. That is not to say that further changes could be made if additional comments are received from the Members. Please review this document and provide any additional comments to the Board.

The Saddlewood Foundation Board of Directors is proposing updated By-Laws for the community. These By-Laws were updated by the By-Laws Committee. All homeowners are encouraged to download and review the proposed document carefully before the comment deadline of Sept 20, 2026.
Once you have reviewed the proposed By-Laws, please send any questions, concerns, or feedback directly to the Board at the email address below. Your input matters and will be considered before any vote is taken.
Our hope is that we can approve these new by-laws during the Saddlewood Annual, if we can achieve a quorum. Please plan to attend, in person or by Proxy, the Saddlewood Annual Meeting, to be held on September 26, 2026, 2:00 pm at the Casey Jones Park.

Bear Sightings Reported in Area
There have been recent reports of bear activity in the Saddlewood community, including reports of bears getting into household trash.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has been contacted and is aware of the activity. At this time, CPW has indicated that the bear has not exhibited aggressive behavior and is not currently considered to require intervention. The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office was also contacted about the sightings and reported that an officer patrolled the neighborhood on the night of September 15 and spotted the bear in a field before losing sight of it.
Residents are encouraged to take precautions to reduce potential food sources and attractants around their homes, particularly securing trash and keeping other potential food sources inaccessible.
Please continue to report bear sightings and activity. If you observe additional activity, particularly if a bear displays aggressive or unusual behavior, please contact Colorado Parks and Wildlife so they can monitor the situation and determine whether further action is necessary.

Annual Meeting — September 26 at Casey Jones Park
The Saddlewood Foundation annual HOA meeting will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Casey Jones Park. All homeowners are encouraged to attend. Board members will be present to discuss community matters, answer questions, and conduct any necessary votes. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early.

Board Change
David Anglea has stepped down as HOA secretary
Package Theft
In March 2026, a resident reported a missing package that had been delivered to the community kiosk package mailbox.
At the resident’s request, security camera footage from the relevant time period was reviewed. The footage successfully identified the individual responsible, along with their vehicle type and license plate number. This information was provided to the affected resident, who filed reports with both the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Post Office.
Both agencies are handling this matter in accordance with the law. The Saddlewood HOA Board of Directors will be kept informed as the case progresses.
Residents are encouraged to monitor expected deliveries closely and report any concerns promptly to the Elizabeth Post Office.
Property owners renting out their property :
The HOA expects that persons renting your property will abide by the covenants, specifically in regards to farm animals. The HOA will inform renters of violations and the expected corrective action, however the property owners are ultimately responsible for these issues.
All HOA documents for CY 2025 will be archived in early 2026. And the date of 22 February 2026 certainly qualifies as early 2026. INWORK

Farm Animals:
The board of directors continues to receive inquiries from Real Estate agents regarding the allowance of farm animals within our subdivision. The prohibition of farm animals is clearly indicated in the Covenants Article VI, Section 1 (i) and in the Real Estate section.
